Patcong Creek Canoe & Kayak Cleanup & Picnic   (5/21/2017)
Clean up sites and launches include: Somers Point-Mays Landing Road, Ocean Heights Avenue, Hamilton Avenue, and Poplar Avenue. Through the generosity of the ACUA all the necessary cleanup supplies will be provided (i.e. tee shirts, bags, gloves, pickers, etc.). Bring your canoes or kayaks to head out into the creek or help out on land to clean up the banks of the Patcong Creek. The Patcong Creek Foundation Inc. will provide boats to act as trash barges for the kayaks to unload full trash bags and to ferry land bound volunteers from place to place along the marsh. The Paddle Shack at Ocean Heights Avenue & Patcong Creek will once again offer the use of free kayaks for the event, all you need to do is pre-registration. Here is how you can get involved: ❖ Gather your friends, family, scout troop, faith group, business, club, team, neighborhood, youth group school or just yourself and make a commitment to improve your community. ❖ Register yourself, your family or your organization by May 19th by emailing Leigh Ann Napoli, or calling 609.927.4108 with your name, phone number, and how many volunteers you are registering. ❖ Then someone will call you back to discuss which section your group will be cleaning (on water or land). ❖ Need a boat? Reserve a free kayak at the Paddle Shack in advance by emailing George at or calling 609.653.4FUN ❖ Arrive at 10 am at your designated area–rain or shine. ❖ At 12:30 pm enjoy a free picnic, shark tooth hunt and awards ceremony at Memorial Park in Linwood. Please feel free to bring Frisbees, soccer balls, kites, or other sports equipment. All participants will receive a free cleanup t-shirt, all cleanup supplies and free lunch.

New Jersey American Water hired Perna Finnigan Inc. to replace water mains in the following areas: Laurel Avenue (from Wabash Ave to Shore Road) Elm Avenue (from Maple Ave to Shore Road) Maple Avenue (from Elm Ave to Wabash Ave) Van Sant Avenue (from Bartlett Ave to east of Bryant Ave) Bryant Avenue (from Murphy's Way to Van Sant Ave) Work will begin around Feb 1 and take approximately three months to complete. South Jersey Gas has contracted Gres Paving Co., Inc. to pave the following streets beginning Monday, December 5 (weather permitting): Wilson Avenue (Shore Road to Lincoln Avenue) Pierce Avenue (New Road to Bartlett Avenue) Barr Avenue (Shore Road to Lincoln Avenue) Marvin Avenue (New Road to Wabash Avenue) Bartlett Avenue (Poplar Avenue to Van Sant Avenue) Work hours are 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Elected Officials Hall of Fame   (2/3/2016)
The New Jersey State League of Municipalities inducted Linwood City Councilman Elliot Beinfest into the Elected Officials Hall of Fame on February 3, 2016 at the State House Annex in Trenton. Councilman Beinfest was first elected to City Council in November of 1994 and is currently serving his eighth consecutive term.

The City of Linwood is a suburban community located in Atlantic County, New Jersey. The city comprises an area of four square miles lying approximately nine miles to the west of Atlantic City and bounded by the municipalities of Northfield, Egg Harbor Township, and Somers Point.

The City is accessible by land via the Garden State Parkway, a major north-south artery which is adjacent to the City and provides access to New York City, and via the Atlantic City Expressway, which is five miles distant and leads directly to Philadelphia. The Parkway going south connects with the Cape May-Lewes ferry service, which provides a convenient, modern method of crossing the Delaware Bay to points south. Atlantic City International Airport (approximately twenty miles distant) provides both commuter and regular air travel to major eastern cities and beyond.
